Janice was co-facilitator of this professional lab for artists with an established practice in community practice long with co-facilitator Nadia Iftkhar artistic director of Company of Others, and assisted by Jenna Corker and Eoin McKenzie. 11 artists met at Wiston Lodge, in rural Lanarkshire in Scotland in March over 5 days.
Together they discussed, debated, questioned, supported, cared, shared, pondered, renewed and danced the relevance and necessity of our work. The artists then spent a weekend in Glasgow hosted by The Work Room and Scottish based artists
You can find resources gathered from the lab including a short film by Tao-Anas Le Thanh.
“STRE-TCH Creative Lab will delve into the themes of dance as a community practice and sustainability (both human & environmental). It will be a space for artists experienced in community dance work to exchange experiences and ideas. Through the lab, we are interested in collectively re-imaging a sustainable future for dance and international collaboration.”
